Practices of Scientific Entrepreneurship Webinar
The Institute of Entrepreneurship of the UNWE hosted a webinar on the topic ‘Practices in Scientific Entrepreneurship’, organized within the framework of the ‘Hub for Scientific Entrepreneurship in Bulgaria’ project (EURAXESS ERA TALENT).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kostadin Kolarov, Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship of the UNWE and Head of the Chair of Entrepreneurship, opened the webinar by briefly presenting his experience in entrepreneurship research, including entrepreneurial practices carried out by scientific entrepreneurs, after which he gave the floor to the participants to present their affiliation, scientific interests and interests as potential entrepreneurs.
Ms. Svetlana Dimitrova, Head of EURAXESS Bulgaria, introduced the webinar participants, lecturers, researchers, and doctoral students from several universities in the country and abroad, as well as from institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with the goals and projects and the opportunities for participation in the EURAXESS network.
The specially invited guest, Dr. Nedislav Veselinov, founder and head of the experimental design bureau Photonics, presented his practice as a scientific entrepreneur, the challenges he faced in creating his business based on research results, and the solutions implemented in response to these challenges.
Assoc. Prof Dr. Kostadin Kolarov presented systematized practical approaches in problem areas such as identifying entrepreneurial opportunities and developing ideas for creating a business based on research products, attracting partners and investors, managing development and growth, protecting intellectual property, etc.
Prof. Dr. Kamelia Stefanova introduced the webinar participants to the results of the project ‘EUROCC2 - HPC+ technologies for supporting business and research’ coordinated by her and their applicability in the practice of scientific entrepreneurship.
Prof. Dr. Dmytro Zherlitsyn further explained the goals and upcoming activities of the Hub for Scientific Entrepreneurship at the Institute of Entrepreneurship of the UNWE and provided an opportunity for participants to share their business ideas and ask questions related to implementing these ideas.
All participants expressed strong interest in future similar initiatives that foster the exchange of experience, ideas, and collaboration between the scientific and entrepreneurial communities. In this context, the Hub for Scientific Entrepreneurship will continue to develop as a platform for ongoing dialogue, aimed at identifying the key challenges in scientific entrepreneurship and jointly seeking effective solutions.
